2018 Radio Drama - Taipei Urban Theater: Evening Primrose
Adapted from the novel Evening Primrose by Professor Wang Chiung-ling of National Chung Cheng University’s Department of Chinese Literature, this poignant radio drama recounts the resilience of Lin Te-lu, a conscripted soldier in Taiwan during the 823 Artillery Bombardment (also called the Second Taiwan Strait Crisis). Despite facing relentless challenges, Lin’s indomitable spirit shines through, embodying the essence of perseverance. The evening primrose, commonly found along the shores of Kinmen, blooms at dusk and reaches its full glory by nightfall. Inspired by the flower’s tenacious spirit, the author chose its name for the title, symbolizing the ability to blossom with beauty even in the face of adversity.
This production was shortlisted for Best Sound Effects at the 53rd Golden Bell Awards.
