Content: "I always endeavor to do more for female composers" has always been my ambition. From long-term organizing and producing concerts for female composers, to actively participating in the annual conference “International rostrum of composers” (IRC) is held by International Music Council (IMC, affiliated with UNESCO). I always hope to do my best to promote every excellent female composers’ work internationally. December 1st is the “National Women Support Women Day”, so a special unit will be produced and broadcast in the last 15 minutes of program on November 26th 2023. In here, we continue to pass on the holy fire of art. Let us depart from Taiwan and based in Taipei, and expand us to the whole world internationally. Feminism, a term that has been lingering for more than two hundred years, sprouted from the Enlightenment Era in the 18th century and has now become a collective term for female trends of thought. As National Women Support Women Day is coming soon, in program, we have 11 noted female composers who have high reputation for many years and made extraordinary achievements. I sincerely thank them for their contribution to music. During the program, we will hear brief sharings from 11 female composers, how they became composers, how they overcame every obstacles, and found their own compositional way, along with talking about other insights for female composers I sincerely hope that every female friend can live with her own life, and be able to support everyone around her, strive to pursue dreams, and support other’s dreams, so that her own soul can be complete. In honor of “2024 National Women Support Women Day” on December 1st, we present a special feature titled "Music is Weapon" in “Thousand Miles, talks about music" radio program. This feature highlights the resilience and creativity of eight Ukrainian female composers who have used their musical talents as a way of resistance and hope during the Russo-Ukrainian War. The feature aims to present the power of music as a tool for emotional healing and national heritage in Ukraine. Through first-hand first hand and in-depth interviews, these remarkable women share their stories of perseverance, dedication, and the belief that music can be a gentle yet powerful weapon in the fight for peace and stability. Their stories are a testament to the strength and beauty of the human spirit, even in adversity. The production includes those interviews with each composer, providing insights into their personal journeys, contributions to the Ukrainian music scene, and ongoing efforts to support their homeland through art. Excerpts from their music introduce the audience to Ukrainian music and culture.

From basic needs such as cooking, cleaning, and shopping, to the many limitations in moving about outside, every seemingly ordinary task can become a great struggle. In addition, impaired vision heightens health risks such as falling, difficulty in taking medication, and inconvenience in seeking medical care, which further increases feelings of loneliness and isolation. Many may even fall into depression or retreat into self-enclosure. We invite you to join us in paying attention to this group of seniors, listening to their needs and voices, accompanying them out of solitude, and helping them rediscover warmth and light in life.

Content: Medication and Driving Safety In Taiwan, more than 3,000 people die each year in traffic accidents, with about 10% related to driving under the influence of medication. With over 6 million people living with chronic illnesses, many drivers take medicine before getting behind the wheel, often unaware of the risks. Certain drugs can impair reaction time, focus, or cause drowsiness and dizziness, making driving as dangerous as drunk driving. Dr. Pao Chun-Pei, Director of Clinical Pharmacy at Taipei City Hospital, explains that driving requires coordination of the central nervous and neuromuscular systems. When sensory information is processed by the brain alongside memory and cognitive functions, signals are sent to muscles to control the vehicle—any disruption from medication can be critical. Common drugs such as sleeping pills, opioid painkillers, mydriatics, muscle relaxants, and cold medicines with antihistamines pose serious threats to driving safety. This program highlights the classification of medications by traffic safety risk, helping raise drivers’ awareness and reduce accidents caused by medication use.
